While my portfolio offers a visual representation of my work, here's a breakdown of the types of projects I've completed and the skills I've developed along the way. I have a wide range of expertise in cabinet installations and can provide a wide range of cabinet installation services.
Some of the pictures in the portfolio may look repetitive, and that's because they are—the same kitchen layout installed in multiple condo units. I've worked on large condo buildings where each kitchen has the same design with only minor variations. In these "cookie-cutter" projects, efficiency is key. The goal is to complete an entire floor of condos each week. Depending on the scale, it might be just me working, or a team of installers.
These types of installations require less complex carpentry skills but demand strong time management and coordination with other trades to stay on schedule.
Patience is essential because, while the goal is to stick to a timeline, unexpected issues always arise. When there's a design problem in one unit, it usually affects hundreds of others, requiring fast communication and problem-solving to keep the project on track.
These are the projects that end up on Instagram and Pinterest—the ones with custom upgrades and sleek designs. Unlike the repetitive condo installs, these kitchens are often part of high-end renovations or custom builds, and they require a much broader range of installation skills.
In these jobs, precision is everything. From cutting crown molding and light valances to tightly scribing materials to fit perfectly, the work requires attention to detail. Scribing, for example, is the art of fitting a piece of material flush against uneven surfaces, ensuring that gaps are minimized or eliminated. It's also about ensuring symmetry and balance—whether it's centering a sink beneath a window or aligning a stove with the range hood.
These high-end jobs also bring unique challenges. The clients have high expectations, and rightfully so—they're investing more and expect flawless results. Appliance openings need to be precise, especially with custom or oversized appliances. Changes to designs during the build can complicate installations, but solving these challenges is part of the job.
My personal favorite projects are with medium-density homebuilders who focus on high-quality homes without going overboard on size or complexity. These builders work with skilled trades, which makes the installation process much smoother. When the floors are level, the walls are plumb, and everything is where it should be, kitchen installation becomes significantly easier.
These kitchens strike a perfect balance between practicality and aesthetics. They have smart upgrades that enhance functionality without being overly ornate or oversized. These projects are the sweet spot—efficient, beautiful, and functional.
